The Lincoln County Cowboy Symposium has been reinvented for 2021 as the All American CowboyFest, September 30 – October 2, 2022. This family-friendly, four-day festival at the Ruidoso Downs Racetrack is a celebration of Western culture, with live country music on three stages and a rough-stock rodeo on the racetrack. Musical entertainment in 2021 included red dirt pioneer Kevin Fowler and Will Bannister, Thursday, September 30, 7 p.m.; Aaron Watson and Coby Carter, Friday, October 1, 7 p.m.; Western Music Hall of Famer Michael Martin Murphey at noon, and Jake Hooker at 7 p.m., Saturday, October 2. Daytime entertainment includes the Flying Wranglers, The Graham Brothers Band, The Yarbrough Band and Wendell Sollis and the Sidekicks.
The All American CowboyFest teamed up with Circle P Productions for the rough stock pro rodeo, a new and exciting addition to the racetrack’s storied history, Saturday, October 2, 2 – 4 p.m. The rough stock-only rodeo featured ranch bronc riding, saddle bronc, and bull riding. Twelve cowboys competed, with the top four returning to the championship round during the performance.
Also included are mounted shooting demonstrations, horse training seminars, more than 120 western-style v3endors and a children’s barnyard petting zoo. And what would a festival be without food? The All American CowboyFest hosts the nation’s best authentic chuckwagon cooking competition, featuring 18 different chuckwagons preparing vittles the old-fashioned way!
