The Las Cruces Museum System announces its plan to fully open to the public June 29 after being closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic response and public health orders. Beginning Tuesday, June 29, all City museums, except one, will fully open to guests. Operating hours will be from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday. To ensure the health and safety of staff and guests, the Museum System has implemented new temporary procedures for visiting the museums.
Guests are asked to follow health guidelines by wearing a mask if they have not been vaccinated, maintain social distancing from others at all times, and refrain from touching items or exhibits. Hand sanitizing stations are located near restrooms and front desks. Disposable masks, limited to one per person, will be provided to visitors who have forgotten their own at home. Guests with COVID-19 symptoms or who are sick will not be permitted to enter.
The Museum of Art and Museum of Nature & Science will also be open for First Friday from 5-7 p.m. beginning July 2. The museums will continue to be open on subsequent First Fridays of the month throughout the year.
The Branigan Cultural Center will remain closed until October 1 for pre-scheduled repair work. The Museum of Art and Museum of Nature & Science, at 411 to 491 N. Main St., are accessible through RoadRUNNER Transit Route 1, Stop 36. The Las Cruces Railroad Museum, 351 N. Mesilla St., is accessible via RoadRUNNER Transit Route 5, Stop 17.
