From haunted houses to monster mashes, Halloween weekend serves up a ghoulish selection of activities and events, ready-made for you adventurous children of the night. Though by no means a complete list of howliday happenings, here are just a few hometown haunts that have risen from the crypt to be counted.
New Mexico State University radio station KRUX, and student newspaper The Round Up, team up to kick off the weekend with a haunted office space they call Haunts. The fun begins at the Corbet Center Student Union, Thursday, October 28th. Let the scares commence!
Downtown party headquarters Amador LIVE is pulling out all the stops for an evening of rap music at the Amador Patio Bar & Grill, Friday, October 29th. Though we’re not really sure how spooky this event will be, they’ve titled it Nightmare On Main Street, which hints at a scare or two. You’ll just have to decide for yourself…
It should come as no surprise, if you’ve been paying any attention, that Las Cruces has its own Improv group, appearing semi-regularly at the Black Box Theatre. This Friday, October 29th, they are taking the art of unscripted madness into the Fright Zone with their Super Spooky Improv Show. Get ready to squirm!
Strange enchantments will fill the air as the undead perform their dance macabre, when the Valley’s own Borderlands Ballet presents its Halloween Bash, at the Las Cruces School of Dance and Music, Saturday, October 30th. This one is sure to be frightful fun for the entire family.
A long drive down a dark, country road usually leads to unspeakable horrors and confrontations with things that go bump in the night… but in this case it leads to The Blue Moon Bar & Grill’s first ever Moon Brew Bash, Saturday, October 30th. Dress to thrill, but keep an eye out for the restless dead.
As creep shows go, there’s a lot of competition in the Mesilla Valley’s haunted environs, but when The Range announces its own Halloween Creep Show, the dead take notice, Saturday, October 30th. Dance the night away to Indie bands while perusing a graveyard of goodies in the vendor market. Insert evil laugh here…
Another zombie jamboree can be found at the house on the hill, the Pecan Grill & Brewery, when they hold their annual Halloween Bash, Saturday, October 30th. Drink specials all night and a cash prize for costumed golems and ghouls who enter the night’s creepy contest. Get ready to howl!
Only one group is brave enough to host an event on All Hallows Eve itself! Adams Radio Group takes over the Plaza de Las Cruces for a free family frightfest, Halloween Fest 2021, Sunday, October 31st. Get into the spirit of the season with music, food, costumes and more monstrous mayhem!
And finally, if you haven’t done it yet, this is your last chance to experience the traditional family fun of the Mesilla Valley Maze in Fairacres. Enjoy the final days of the Fall season with a corn maze, pumpkin patch, hay bales, scarecrows and much more to delight the kid in everyone, right up until Halloween night!
