The Dance Eclectic Introduces The Ring Leader - LasCruces.com

The Dance Eclectic presents a circus-themed evening of dance The Ring Leader, at the Black Box Theater, Friday, January 7, 2022, 8 p.m. A family-friendly show, inspired by The Greatest Showman, the Ring Leader in question is nearing retirement, so she takes a newcomer under her wing and grooms her for the role.

Using the burgeoning relationship between the veteran leader, navigating the demands of being in charge, and the novice newcomer, who is just trying to find her way under the big top, the story unfolds through dance. Original choreography by the members of The Dance Eclectic incorporates genres ranging from classical ballet to modern dance, to jazz, as well as saber twirling and performances by talented guest artists.

Among those guests are members of Firefox Productions and Odd-Lab, Georgina, Lexi and Isabelle. Georgina co-founded Odd-Lab and now works under the pseudonym FireFox. She is an instructor and choreographer. Lexi is a professional dancer, model and performer, who specializes in contortion dance and ballet. Isabella, also a professional dancer, model and performer, studies fashion and loves to incorporate that into her performances.

The result is a delightful mélange of movement that will enthrall lovers of dance, and those who aspire to become dancers themselves. Something the troupe takes very seriously, indeed. Established in 2016, The Dance Eclectic’s mission is to make dance accessible to everybody, with a focus on newcomers to dance, ages 13 and up. A Las Cruces-based non-profit, the community dance collective is dedicated to creating performances and choreography opportunities for those who might not otherwise get them.

Tickets for The Ring Leader are $15 for adults, $12 for students and seniors. They can be purchased online, or at the door. For more information, visit the webite.
