Among the best summer block parties of the year, the annual Tequila, Taco & Cerveza Festival is something southern New Mexico looks forward to eagerly. Why? Probably because it combines three of our favorite cultural comestibles into one delicious package! Add in a full day of entertainment, arts and crafts vendors, and family-friendly games and you’ve got the makings of a first-class bash. Now in its sixth year, the Tequila, Taco & Cerveza Festival turns the Plaza de Las Cruces into fiesta central on Saturday, July 13, 2024, 6 p.m. – 12 a.m.
Showcasing a wide variety of over 100 Mexican beers and samples of over 40 different tequilas from around the world, plus food trucks giving their own signature spin on the anything-but-humble taco, this event is a premier Southwest blowout. Red beers and margaritas are also on tap, along with other tasty treats.
Clearly taste plays a huge part in the success of this festival, but that isn’t all there is to it. Entertainment includes musical and dance acts, DJs, Mariachis, and more on the Plaza stage, along with Water Pong, CornHole, and other lawn games. But the one thing many look forward to, every year, is live Lucha Libre matches on the Plaza. This unique form of freestyle wrestling entertainment is a Mexican tradition, classified as a cultural heritage and characterized by colorful masks evoking the images of animals, gods, and ancient heroes.
Tickets for this event are $30 for general admission (21+ only) and include all-access entry with ten .25 oz tequila samples, one branded festival sampling cup, and unlimited photos at TTCFest.com. Additional tequila samples are $1 each. The $50 VIP Amigo ticket (also 21+), gets you everything the GA ticket does, plus one taco plate from any food truck and a festival T-shirt.
Lest we forget our designated drivers and minors, $20 gets you in, and includes unlimited photos at TTCFest.com, and don’t forget those Lucha Libra matches. Children 12 and under are free with adult supervision, and military are given a $5 discount with current ID.
The Tequila, Taco & Cerveza Fest, may not be for everybody, but if Southwestern cuisine and strong drink are your vices of choice, get down to the Plaza de Las Cruces for a taste of something truly wonderful. And if you haven’t yet experienced Lucha Libre wrestling, you are really in for a treat! For more information, visit the website.
