Dr. Stampp, cosmetic surgeon, leads the team at Milk and Honey Body Cosmetic Surgery in Las Cruces, New Mexico, a practice that he started in 2021. Dr. Stampp graduated from the University of Texas Medical School at Houston and went on to complete his residency in general and trauma surgery at Lincoln Medical Center/Weill Cornell in New York City. He has served as a general surgeon in Las Cruces and surrounding areas since 2017.
As he worked at different facilities, he met medical professionals who asked if he could help with body contouring and various other cosmetic surgery procedures. Through these encounters, he saw a need to provide cosmetic surgery access to more people in Las Cruces. By establishing his practice in Las Cruces, his patients get to stay home — instead of traveling to other cities — to get the care that they need.
Going from General Surgery to Cosmetic Surgery
To take his general surgical skills to the specialized field of cosmetic surgery, Dr. Stampp completed a fellowship at the International Society of Cosmetogynecology. There, he operated alongside two world-renowned cosmetic surgeons — Drs. Marco Pelosi II and III. The elder Dr. Pelosi pioneered the field of cosmetic surgery.
Dr. Stampp points out the distinction between plastic surgery, which is an all-encompassing reconstructive training process, and cosmetic surgery, a subset of that field that focuses on helping patients feel more comfortable and confident with their appearance.
Approach to Patient Care
With his keen eye for beauty and exceptional surgical skills, Dr. Stampp believes in “female empowerment through body contouring.” He notes that with the advent of social media, “We all see ourselves and compare ourselves to others. That element of social media might be seen as unhealthy, but there’s also an element of those messages that’s truly empowering.”
His goal is to focus on that aspect of how women see themselves and work with them to achieve the bodies they desire. Initially, his patients were women who were seeking reconstructive surgery following life-changing breast cancer procedures. Now, his practice has expanded to include other services. Milk and Honey Body Cosmetic Surgery is best known for performing breast augmentations and breast reconstruction, Brazilian butt lifts, abdominoplasty, and liposculpture.
Awards and Leadership Roles
In 2020, Dr. Stamp received the Golden Stethoscope Award for Excellence in Patient Care from MountainView Regional Medical Center. In 2021 the Greater Las Cruces Chamber of Commerce presented Dr. Stampp with the Healthcare Innovation Award. Dr. Stampp served as the vice chief of surgery and associate professor of surgery for MountainView Regional Medical Center from 2020 through 2021, and he was the director of the hospital’s trauma program from 2017 through 2019. He was also voted Bulletin’s 2023 Best Cosmetic Surgeon in Las Cruces.
Facilities and Hospital Affiliations
While Dr. Stampp performs most procedures at the surgical unit in his facility, he points out that he has privileges for plastic and cosmetic surgery at MountainView Regional Medical Center and the nearby service center for patients who need a higher level of care. Having access to regional medical facilities is important as it meets his goal of aiming for the highest level of safety for his patients. He says, “Safety comes first, and we consider price points after the safety goals have been met.” In addition to his cosmetic surgery practice, Dr. Stampp also owns Organ Peak Surgery, where he provides general surgery procedures.
Hobbies and other interests
Dr. Stampp is also an accomplished and published photographer, having covered five seasons of New York Fashion Week Runways and celebrity work while working and living in New York City. He has photographed countless models and collaborated with well-known fashion brands. His eye for fashion and beauty contributes to his success as a cosmetic surgeon.
