Giant Invisible Rabbit Spotted at LCCT! - LasCruces.com

Las Cruces Community Theatre (LCCT) opens its 2021 season with the Pulitzer Prize-winning dramedy Harvey, August 20 – September 5, 2021. The beloved play about a man who is befriended by a giant invisible rabbit will be the first of LCCT’s new season and the first show staged since the theater closed its doors during the COVID-19 pandemic. Harvey was scheduled to reveal himself in March 2020. Now you have a second chance to see him for yourself.

“LCCT is super excited to finally be able to get Harvey onto the stage with a live audience in the seats,” said LCCT Board of Directors President Janet Beatty-Payne. “A year and a-half after it was supposed to open, the cast has changed some, but the classic story remains as endearing as always.” Janet also points out that the closure of the theater was used to good advantage, with a new ADA-compliant bathroom added to the lobby and new carpeting throughout.

Written by Mary Chase, Harvey is the story of a perfect gentleman, Elwood P. Dowd, and his best friend, Harvey, a six-foot tall, invisible rabbit. When Elwood begins introducing Harvey around town, his embarrassed sister Veta decides to commit him to a sanitarium. Can Harvey save his friend from the pressures of normality? Directed by Gail Wheeler, cast members are Brandon Brown, Lennie Brown, David Edwards, Cindy Murrell, Ed Montes, Vanessa Dabovich, Mike Cruz, Alecks Rundell, Erin Wendorf, Alex Wheeler Larkin, and Nathan Harper.

Show dates and times for Harvey are Fridays, August 20, 27, September 3, at 7:30 p.m.; Saturdays, August 21, 28, September 4, at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays, August 22, 29, September 5, at 2 p.m. Tickets are $17 for adults, $14 for seniors/students/military and $10 for children 12 and under. Please note, out of an abundance of caution, due to the current rise of COVID-19 cases in our community, LCCT is requesting that only those who are fully vaccinated attend this production of Harvey. All attending must also wear masks while inside the theatre. Visit the website for more information, or to purchase tickets.
