Get ready to pedal your way through the idyllic landscapes of Northern New Mexico as the Santa Fe Century, the premier cycling event in the state, returns for its 38th edition on May 18 and 19, 2024. Organized by the dedicated Santa Fe Century Committee and brought to you by New Mexico Outdoor Recreation Division and Santa Fe County Lodgers Tax, this event promises an amazing experience for cycling enthusiasts of all levels, attracting not just local riders but many from across the country.
“We’re thrilled to be hosting the 38th edition of the Santa Fe Century,” said Hadji Corona, director of the Santa Fe Century Committee. “The event has become a highlight of the cycling calendar, and we’re excited to welcome riders from near and far to experience the breathtaking beauty of our state.”
What sets Santa Fe Century apart from other cycling events is the variety of ride options available to participants. Cyclists can choose from a range of routes, including 20, 50, or 100-mile road rides, as well as gravel rides. This allows riders to find the route best suited for their fitness level and preferred type of riding.
The 25- to 55-mile gravel rides, set against the backdrop of Rowe Mesa, offer a thrilling off-road experience through untamed terrain and stunning natural vistas. Meanwhile, the road rides starting from Santa Fe Railyard Park provide a blend of urban and rural landscapes that showcase the multifaceted splendor of Northern New Mexico.
Competitive road cyclists will want to register for the 54-mile Medio Fondo or the even more challenging 106-mile Gran Fondo, both timed rides. There’s also the Gravelón, a 55-mile timed event on gravel. The rest of the rides on the schedule are untimed tours where the only challenge is with yourself to complete the distance.
In addition to these scenic rides, the Santa Fe Century features a vibrant cycling expo where participants can explore the latest gear, apparel, and accessories, offering something for every cycling enthusiast to enjoy.
Registration for the Santa Fe Century is available online until Sunday, May 12. Alternatively, participants can register in person at Railyard Park on Friday, May 17, from 2 – 7 p.m. or Saturday, May 18, from 2 –7 p.m. Both timed and untimed rides are available, providing cyclists the opportunity to participate at their own pace.
