After the terrific response to the 14 children’s performances in ELF, Jr. in December 2020, the Scaffolding Theatre Company is just beginning their journey into a similarly didactic, uplifting, fun tale.
Children can currently enroll in class AND community members can buy tickets to support the students’ continued artistic and educational experiences during this difficult time.
This modern musicalization of The Ugly Duckling won the prestigious Oliver Award for Best Musical in London in 2000. Strangely, it has not made its way to Broadway, though often performed by enthusiastic theatre groups across America. Megan directed it for Alma d’arte Charter High School in 2006, and toured it to hundreds of appreciative children in the area. It is a terrific musical for this moment, as it is mostly upbeat and humorous, but it also addresses some important questions.
How do we treat others who are “Different?”
How do we overcome feeling isolated or excluded?
Who will love us “Warts and All?”
