Thomas Branigan Memorial Library presents “Evaluating Health Misinformation on the Internet” with guest presenter Renée Despres PhD, MPH. Dr. Despres is an independent journalist who has written extensively about health for print and online publications. She is an adjunct professor in the English and Public Health Sciences Departments at New Mexico State University.
Participants will learn the basics of evaluating health information on the internet, including “red flags” to be aware of and examples of websites that provide misinformation. Then, the basics of data literacy and fact-checking will be covered, including resources that can be used for further study.
