The Doña Ana Arts Council open their 2022 gallery season with the works of Darien Bogart and Mary Prentice, January 3-29, 2022. Bogart grew up in Florida and attended several Florida schools before graduating from Florida Atlantic University with a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts. While working as a graphic artist in the newspaper industry, he spent many hours honing his artistic skills and experimenting with different mediums. He moved west to pursue art full-time, and his work reflects the vibrant colors of both Florida and New Mexico. Without any background in art, Prentice began painting in 2012 as stress relief from a complicated job. She painted for herself and was reluctant to show her work to other people. Her wife, Monica, finally outed her to the world, and people responded positively to her colorful paintings of subjects composed of exciting patterns. The exhibition will run through the entire month of January 2022.
The Doña Ana Arts & Cultural Center and DAAC administrative offices are located at 250 W. Amador, Las Cruces, NM, and open Monday through Fridays 9-5 and on the second Saturday of every month 12-5. For more information, visit the website, or call the DAAC office at 575-523-6403.
