Beck's Coffee Opens New Location! -

Coffee. We just can’t get enough of it, and in Las Cruces that usually means the locally roasted variety. In business since 2010, and under the stewardship of Tyrell Thacker and Arianna Parsons since 2013, Beck’s Coffee is the premiere coffee purveyor in downtown Las Cruces, roasting over 25 varieties of beans from around the globe and selling it by the pound or by the cup.

The brick-and-mortar location at 130 N. Mesquite Street has become the happening spot for socializing, group events, talks and presentations of all kinds. Beck’s Express has been successfully operating out of a converted shipping container on Main Street since June 1, 2020. Now, they’ve added a new location at Burrell College on the New Mexico State University campus and plans to open a bar and bistro next door to the original Beck’s are almost complete.

“It’s been a busy year,” said owner Arianna Parsons. “We weren’t thinking about opening another spot right now, but the college approached us, and it really sounded like they want to be partners. It’s a great little spot and with the students returning, our goal is to give them a little bit of respite. Being a student in medical school must be really intense and we like the idea of giving them a little place to take a break and clear their brains. We had a soft opening on Monday, April 5. We might have a grand opening in July, when students come back for lectures.”

As for the bistro, it will be a partnership with friends who bought the historic property at 118 N. Mesquite St., built during the 1930s. “We’ve been working on it for a year and a half restoring it, which has been hard during the pandemic, obviously, but we’re bringing it back to its historic beauty,” Arianna said. “Inside is finished. We’ve maintained the architecture; we’ve refinished the floors and exposed the stone. It’s just stunning.” Included is a 1200-square-foot kitchen with state-of-the-art equipment and interiors by Jamie Langan of Studio Langan Interior Designs, which feature green tufted velvet banquette seating and millwork bars. “It’s really going to be something special that Las Cruces hasn’t seen in a long time,” Arianna added. Look for the grand opening to happen sometime during the summer, pandemic willing. “We’re hoping the end of June,” said Arianna, “that would be really great.”
