The Doña Ana Arts Council has announced their monthly art exhibition for May 2021, titled Rhythm and Rhyme. The exhibition will feature ceramic sculptures, paintings and new collaborative works by Suzanne Kane and Mitch and A.me Alamag, creators of Rokoko Art. In keeping with the theme of the show, the artwork will reflect the natural rhythms found in patterns and form.
Holding an MFA in ceramics from New Mexico State University, Kane creates sculptures inspired by the desert that surrounds us all. Building her pieces by blending welded steel with mid-fire stoneware, she embraces the metaphors of the landscape concerning resilience, persistence, toughness, durability, tenacity and adaptability.
The Alamags, who have made Las Cruces their home since 2003, create vibrant works made from wood, acrylic and resin to, as A.me puts it, “fill the world with color, light and love.”
The exhibit will be available for viewing May 3-27, 2021, at the Doña Ana Arts & Cultural Center located at 250 W. Amador, during regular business hours, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., weekdays, and Saturday, May 8, 2021 from 12 to 5. For more information, please visit the website or call the Doña Ana Arts Council.
